Plenty to do both on site and nearby - visiting traditional cognac makers 2 min drive, horse riding 5 min drive at St Même, swimming lake with canoeing at Jarnac, 15 min drive, climbing centre or bike hire in Angoulême, and golf at St Brice, 15 min drive. Château de Barbézieux well worth a visit, 15 min distant, or sample the produce of local vineyards – Cognac with its distilleries is less than 20 min drive. Lovely walks among woods and vineyards directly from the Relais itself. Attractive resorts of Meschers and St Georges-de-Didonne on the Gironde have lovely sandy beaches, around 80 min drive. International airports: Bordeaux 105 km/Bergerac 124 km.

Le Coche is set on a lovely complex of just 3 cottages and 5 B&B suites, recently converted from a C17th/C18th coach house on the edge of picturesque hamlet of St Preuil, in the heart of Cognac vineyards. Property has use of all the grounds of the Relais which have lovely views of woods and vine-clad hillsides, and the built-in BBQ. Excellent on-site leisure facilities: internet kiosk, sauna, fitness corner, clay tennis court, fenced heated pool 14 x 7 x 1.4m depth with security immersion alarm, shared by all 3 properties and B&B guests. Terraces for sunbathing, pool house with table tennis, and secure play area for children with slide and swings. Charming English-speaking owner-manager lives in his own part of the coach house buildings.

Le Coche is of very high standard throughout including an internet point in each bedroom. Large open-plan room with beams and exposed stone walls includes comfortable leather sofas, satellite TV (some English channels)/DVD, CD player, plus spacious dining area. Adjoining kitchen is light, spacious and extremely well equipped with dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. Corridor from living room to bedrooms and bathrooms. Bed 1: large double (160cm), safe box in wardrobe, and lovely ensuite bath/WC. This bathroom also has door to corridor so can serve all bedrooms if wished. Bed 2: large double (160cm), with walk-in hanging space. Bed 3: 2 singles, and walk-in hanging space. Bath/shower. Sep WC. Cot, highchair and babygate on request.
