Visit two spectacular châteaux on the Dordogne, Beynac for its stunning views, Castelnaud opposite, where ‘medieval warriors’ demonstrate siege weapons from the 100 Years’ War. Waterpark at Cahors, and swimming lakes at Lanquais or Villeréal, 20/30 min drive. Some of France’s most beautiful medieval buildings and fascinating cave paintings all within easy driving distance. International airport: Bergerac 38 km.

Two terraced areas, one partly roofed by the main porch, an ideal location to watch out for red squirrels, deer and birds, and another shaded by a wisteria-clad pergola for outdoor dining. Pool 11 x 5 x 1-2m depth with security immersion alarm has paved sunbathing area. Table tennis in open barn. Roofed BBQ area is a special feature, having been adapted from the chimney corner of an ancient cottage.
