There is also an excellent Gateway Visitor Centre where you can find out about what to see and do for day excursions during your stay: For example, Edinburgh and the Highlands to the north, Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick Castle and Gardens to the south, Holy Island, St Abbs Head and the coast to the east, and St Mary's Loch to the west. Castles and stately homes abound in all directions amid the beautiful rolling countryside.The cottage is located within a few minutes walk of the conservation town centre of Jedburgh and all its amenities and facilities You can leave the car behind in the on-site car park after a busy day touring and enjoy a choice of restaurants, pubs, (some with local evening entertainment) a fitness centre with 25m swimming pool, tennis and squash courts. There are regular farmers and continental markets held in the town centre; annual festivals include the Jedburgh Callants Festival at the end of June and the beginning of July; Jedburgh Half marathon in October and rugby at The Riverside.
