It has won a prize in the House of the Year 2005 award in Baranya county! It is perfect for a bigger family, or friends from 8-16 people. All rooms with attached bathrooms, huge garden, open air wooden playground for children, beautiful village and nature around. From Palkonya`s 108 houses 52 are protected old houses, the village has a very unique character in Hungary.

- Palkonya holds the title: Cultural Village of Europe in 2007! The village is a founder of the movement along with 12 european village. In 2007 Palkonya receives the other 12 villages. From May till October weekend cultural, dance/music performances, open cellar days, handicraft markets will take place in Palkonya!
- On Sundays, visit to the famous antique market in Pecs (20 km), from where many of the beautiful old furniture of the house we bought!! Pecs is a mediterranean like, hilly university town with vibrant cultural life. Pecs will be Cultural Capital of Europe in 2010!, it also boasts a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Early Christian Necropolis.

Palkonya is the most cahrming village of a famous hungarian redwine making area,the Sikl?s Vill?ny Wine Route. Palkonya has an exceptionally beautiful location, settled between 3 fishinglakes, at the base of Vill?ny hills. The village is nearby Pecs, this city will be in 2010 the cultural capital of Europe city from Hungary. Palkonya, a village of one street and 370 inhabitants in Southern-Baranya county has maintained the architectural heritage of the German vintners settled to this region in the 18th century. The most notable architectural landmark of the village is the row of wine cellars consisting of 53 press houses on the hill at the end of the village. These press houses have been built gradually over the golden age of winemaking and grape growing at the beginning of the 19th century. Their whitewashed facades are still a gripping site today. More and more tourists of the Sikl?s-Vill?ny Wine Route enjoy visiting these cellars full of blazing red wines and vintners hospitality.
