Termas da Azenha is a former spa in mid-Portugal. It is situated in a beautiful valley about 12 km from the Atlantic Coast. It was originally a spa resort with healing waters and a history going back a few hundred years. The natural spring still operates and the buildings have been mostly maintained. The complex lies just outside the village of Pedrogo do Pranto, at the foot of some hills in the valley of the Pranto River (a branch of the Mondego River which empties into the Atlantic Ocean at Figueira da Foz). The location, on the border of two different ecosystems (rice fields abounding with water and afforested hills), gives this area a rich flora and fauna. There are over 300 bird species and a large variety of deciduous, pine and fruit trees. Numerous fish, river crayfish, shrimp, fox, rabbit, hare and bats can be found here as well. Thermas da Azenha has a pool and childrens pool filled with the clear spring water of the Termas. Theres a big library (also childrens books and movies) and a fittness area in the old bath house. For kids theres plenty to do. There are family games, Lego and a couple of musical instruments (piano, guitar, drums) and there is a changing room with lots of delightful clothes, schoes, hats and wigs. Every week there are mosaic workshops. Also you can order a massage (relaxation, sport, hotstone, shiatsu, feet).
