Right next to the beautiful Drents Friese Wold park lies the De Roggeberg (The Rye Mountain) holiday park. In this pristine area you can go for an endless walk or cycling trip. Along some routes you will find traditional sheep herds that help contribute to the management of the heathland area. A special experience is a trip along the Aekinger Sands, one of the largest sand-drift areas in Europe. At the park's center you'll find an aquatic play area for children up to 10 years of age. This play area is open when the outside temperature exceeds 20 degrees. All guests of The Rye Mountain have free access to the magnificent pool of Appelscha, which is situated right next to our center. This has Bosbad which includes a unique water playground. At times our guests have free access to the Boekhorst indoor swimming pool in nearby Oosterwolde. Facilities of the holiday park include a restaurant, snack bar, supermarket and a large recreation room.
